The Irrigation Department has withdrawn flood warnings previously issued for the Kelani and Kalu river basins after water levels returned to normal.
In a notice issued at 3.30 p.m. today (04), the Department’s Hydrology and Disaster Management Division said the flood warnings were being lifted as conditions in the affected river basins had normalised.
The withdrawn warnings include Flood Warning No. 03 issued for the Kelani River Basin at 1.30 p.m. on August 3, Flood Warning No. 01 issued for the Kalu River Basin at 2.00 p.m. on August 3, and Flood Warning No. 04 issued for the Kelani River Basin at 3.30 p.m. on the same day.
The Department said it will continue to closely monitor rainfall conditions and river water levels across the country and issue advance warnings if any flood situation develops. (Newswire)
