A gunman riding a motorcycle attempted to shoot the owner of a bakery on Kadawatha Road in Dehiwala, but the attack failed after the weapon reportedly misfired, police said.
According to police, the suspect then struggled with the bakery owner, who managed to seize the firearm from the gunman.
The suspect fled the scene immediately after the struggle, leaving the weapon behind.
Police have launched an investigation to identify and arrest the suspect while further inquiries into the motive for the attempted shooting are underway. (Newswire)
