Police investigations into a video circulating on social media showing a woman assaulting a young girl inside a house in the Wellawatte Police Division have been concluded, after the victim and her family reportedly decided not to pursue legal action.
According to the Police, the young girl, who had been residing in the house on rent since 2019, admitted to engaging in conduct contrary to the conditions imposed by the female house owner.
She told Police that the house owner struck her a few times as a warning, but emphasized she did not wish to take legal action against her.
Investigations further found that the video was released to social media by a person identified as the house owner’s husband. Statements obtained from both parties confirmed the accuracy of the incident as depicted.
The girl’s parents also informed Police that they did not wish to initiate legal proceedings against the house owner. Accordingly, the Wellawatte Police Station reported that the investigation has been closed. (Newswire)
