Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North-western provinces and the Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle and Matara districts.
Cloudy skies will prevail over these areas. Fairly heavy falls above 75 mm are likely at some places in the Sabaragamuwa province and in the Kandy and Nuwara-Eliya districts. Showers or thundershowers may occur at several places in the Uva and Eastern provinces and in the Mullaittivu district after 2.00 pm.
Strong winds of about 40-50 kmph can be expected at times over the North-central, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, Central and North-western provinces. The public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Trincomalee via Colombo, Galle, Hambantota and Batticaloa.
Winds will be westerly to south-westerly. Wind speed will be 30-40 kmph. Wind speed can increase up to 60-70 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Pottuvil via Colombo, Galle and Hambantota.
Wind speed can increase up to 50 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Batticaloa to Mullaittivu via Trincomalee.
The sea areas off the coasts extending from Puttalam to Pottuvil via Colombo, Galle and Hambantota will be rough or very rough at times. Naval and fishing communities are advised not to venture into these sea areas, until further notice.

- Disaster situation summary:
The Disaster Management Centre says eight (08) persons have been reported dead and three (03) have been injured in various disaster incidents reported due to adverse weather conditions as of 06.00 am today.
A total of 11832 people from 3014 families across 09 districts have been severely affected, while 3538 people from 952 families have been placed in 51 safety shelters.
The DMC states that 290 houses have been partially damaged and one (01) house has been completely damaged due to inclement weather. (Newswire)
