Twenty-eight inmates injured during unrest at Pallansena Prison have been transferred to the Welikada Prison Hospital for treatment, authorities said.
The disturbance broke out at the prison on Friday (07), prompting authorities to deploy the Police, the Police Special Task Force (STF), the Riot Control Unit and the Sri Lanka Air Force to bring the situation under control.
Security forces also used tear gas to disperse the inmates before restoring control of the prison to the Department of Prisons. (Newswire)
