The Colombo High Court has issued an interim order preventing further proceedings in the traffic accident case against Public Security Ministry Secretary Ravi Seneviratne before the Mount Lavinia Magistrate’s Court.
The order was issued after the court considered a revision petition filed by Seneviratne.
The case relates to a 2023 road accident in Wellawatte, in which Seneviratne was accused of offences including failing to prevent an accident, reckless driving and driving under the influence of alcohol.
Seneviratne had earlier pleaded guilty to the charge of failing to prevent the accident and was fined Rs. 2,500 by the Mount Lavinia Magistrate’s Court, while proceedings on the remaining charges were deferred. (Newswire)
