
A Government delegation led by Justice and National Integration Minister Harshana Nanayakkara met with representatives of the All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama (ACJU) on Sunday to brief them on the judicial and prison reforms currently being implemented.
The delegation, which also included Deputy Minister Munir Mulaffer and Deputy Speaker Dr. Rizvie Salih, met ACJU President Mufti M.I.M. Rizwe and Secretary General Ash-Sheikh Arkam Nooramith, along with members of the organisation’s executive committee, in Colombo.
According to the Justice Ministry, the discussions focused on the reforms being introduced in the judiciary and prison sectors, while Government representatives also sought to clarify what they described as misinformation circulating in society regarding the judicial system.
The delegation also briefed the ACJU on the Government’s progress in implementing the reform programme. (Newswire)
