The mother of alleged underworld figure “Backhoe Saman” has died after being shot in Middeniya, Police said.
The woman was initially hospitalised after two assailants travelling on a motorcycle opened fire at her in the Ulahitiyawa area of Middeniya.
Police later confirmed that she had succumbed to her injuries.
Investigations are underway to identify and arrest the suspects involved in the shooting.
The latest incident comes days after a relative of alleged underworld figure Kanjipani Imran was shot dead in Maligawatte. (Newswire)
