A fishing cat (Prionailurus viverrinus) trapped in a snare has been rescued by wildlife officers in the Sevagama area of Polonnaruwa.
The rescue was carried out after the Polonnaruwa Wildlife Assistant Director’s Office received information about the animal.
Wildlife officers rescued the animal and handed it over to the Giritale Wildlife Veterinary Office for treatment.
The fishing cat is currently receiving treatment under the supervision of wildlife veterinary officers. (Newswire)
