
A new depot complex built at a cost of Rs. 835 million was opened in Kegalle today as part of ongoing development projects aimed at strengthening the country’s public transport sector.
The new complex includes the Sabaragamuwa Regional Office of the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB), the SLTB Driver Training College and the Kegalle branch of the National Transport Medical Institute.
It also comprises an auditorium, an operations section, a staff rest area with modern facilities, an accounts office and other administrative facilities.
The complex includes a larger canteen and an expanded parking facility capable of accommodating a greater number of SLTB buses.
A fuel station for SLTB buses has also been established at the site, along with a bus repair workshop equipped with modern facilities and equipment. (Newswire)
