Australian investors back new projects to boost Sri Lanka’s production economy

Australian investors have given their full agreement to a series of new investments aimed at strengthening Sri Lanka’s production economy, according to Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development Sunil Handunneththi.

Minister Sunil Handunneththi stated that a special investment discussion round with leading Australian investors and entrepreneurs was successfully concluded, focusing on uplifting the country’s industrial, agricultural and sustainable energy sectors.

The meeting was held with the participation of the Deputy Director General of the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka (BOI), the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB), and other state representatives. 

According to the minister, discussions covered key areas, such as sustainable energy solutions, environment‑friendly textile technology, commercial dairy farms and livestock development, recycling‑based plastic industries in industrial zones, aquaculture projects, and eco‑friendly tourism projects. 

Minister Handunneththi further stated that Sri Lanka has established a transparent, reliable and investment‑friendly environment, and assured that the government is prepared to provide the necessary support and facilities to implement these projects rapidly. (Newswire)
