The Department of Meteorology forecasts several spells of showers across parts of Sri Lanka on Sunday, August 16, with fairly strong winds also expected in several areas.
Several spells of showers are expected in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-western provinces, as well as the Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara districts.
Showers or thundershowers may develop at a few places in the Uva Province and the Ampara and Batticaloa districts after 2 p.m.
Fairly strong winds of around 30–40 kmph are expected at times over the Northern, North-central, North-western and Southern provinces and the Trincomalee District.
The public has been advised to take precautions against temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers. (Newswire)
