The Colombo Marathon 2026 has secured official certification from the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) and approval from World Athletics, with the internationally recognised event scheduled for Sept. 13 in Colombo.
The organisers said the certification means the race course has been internationally verified, allowing elite athletes seeking recognised qualifying performances to compete alongside recreational runners.
The event will be held from 6 a.m. on Sunday (13) at Baladaksha Mawatha in Colombo and will feature four race categories, the 42 km, 21km 10 km and 5 km.
Registrations will close on Sept. 1, with organisers warning that places are limited.
The marathon is being held under the theme “Steps for Peace and Humanity” and is expected to bring together local and international runners.
