
The Sri Lanka Police has introduced a special information management system to provide real-time updates for the public attending the 2026 Kandy Esala Perahera.
The annual procession will be held from Aug. 18 to 28 in and around Kandy. Police said a special security programme has been implemented to ensure the safety and convenience of devotees and other visitors.
The new system will provide live information on parking areas, Perahera routes, viewing locations, sanitary facilities and locations where separated or stranded persons can be reunited with family members.
The public can access the service through the “Kandy Esala Perahera” link on the Sri Lanka Police website, www.police.lk, or through the dedicated website.
Police said the service http://kandyesalaperahera.police.lk accessible through mobile phones, tablets and computers and is intended to help visitors avoid traffic congestion, reduce travel delays and plan their journeys more efficiently.
The Police Media Division requested the public and devotees travelling to Kandy for the Esala Perahera to use the service to ensure a safer and smoother journey. (Newswire)
