Suranjith Wewita appointed new chairman of SLTDA

Suranjith Wewita has been appointed chairman of the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism announced on Tuesday (18).

Wewita formally received his letter of appointment from Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Vijitha Herath on Monday (18).

Wewita brings experience in the banking and tourism sectors and has held senior management and leadership positions at Seylan Bank. He has also been involved in financial management, trade union leadership, tourism entrepreneurship and corporate crisis management.

He currently serves as a member of the Presidential Task Force for Tourism Development and as secretary of the All Ceylon Tourism Service Providers Association.

Meanwhile, Buddhika Hewawasam will continue to serve as chairman of the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB).

The ministry said Wewita’s leadership experience, financial expertise and commitment to tourism development are expected to support the further development of the SLTDA. (Newswire)
