Suranjith Wewita has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA), following the resignation of Buddhika Hewawasam.
Wewita, who also serves as a member of the Presidential Task Force, has been appointed to fill the vacancy created by Hewawasam’s departure.
Hewawasam tendered his resignation citing personal and professional reasons after serving as SLTDA Chairman from October 2024.
In his resignation letter, Hewawasam said it had been a privilege to serve as Chairman and highlighted Sri Lanka’s record tourist arrivals and several international tourism accolades achieved during his tenure.
He also said he would support an orderly transition to the new leadership in the best interests of the SLTDA and the country. (Newswire)
