The Sri Lanka Navy has seized 750,000 pharmaceutical capsules suspected to have been smuggled into the country during a search operation in the Puttalam lagoon.
The consignment was found on a suspicious dinghy during an operation conducted by naval personnel attached to SLNS Vijaya of the Northwestern Naval Command on Tuesday (18).
The dinghy and the capsules had been abandoned in the lagoon, apparently after naval surveillance operations in the area, the Navy said.
The seized items were handed over to the Police Narcotic Bureau in Puttalam for further legal action. (Newswire)
