Injury blow: Sri Lanka without 3 first-choice batters for 2nd Test

Sri Lanka are set to be without three first-choice batters for the second Test against India, with Kusal Mendis, Dinesh Chandimal and Pathum Nissanka unavailable due to injury concerns, head coach Gary Kirsten said.

Kusal Mendis and Pathum Nissanka, who missed the first Test in Galle, remain sidelined with hamstring and wrist injuries, respectively.

Sri Lanka have now suffered a further setback with Chandimal also expected to miss the second Test after suffering a concussion during the opening Test.

The absence of the trio leaves Sri Lanka with limited options as they look to make changes to their batting line-up for the second Test, which begins at the SSC in Colombo on August 23.

India lead the two-match series 1-0 after recording a 165-run victory in Galle. (Newswire)
