Public Health Inspectors (PHIs) across the island today (21) reported sick leave in a symbolic strike, protesting the unilateral transfer of the senior‑most PHI attached to the Katunayake Airport Health Office.
The Sri Lanka Public Health Inspectors’ Association said the decision was taken by its executive committee, which met on the night of August 19.
General Secretary Chamila Muthukuda confirmed that the move was intended to highlight opposition to the transfer.
As part of the action, PHIs also withdrew from all dengue control duties nationwide from yesterday (20).
The Association has formally communicated its concerns to the Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Media, urging intervention to resolve the issue. (Newswire)
