The government is considering raising the minimum age for engaging in three-wheeler passenger transport services to 40 years, Deputy Minister of Vocational Education Nalin Hewage said.
Hewage said young people should not enter the three-wheeler taxi industry immediately after leaving school, stressing the need to guide them towards education and vocational training instead.
“We expect to increase the age for entering the three-wheeler profession to 40 years. Young people should not be able to leave school and immediately take a three-wheeler onto the road. That is why we are making changes to education,” he said. (Newswire)
