A 59-year-old woman was rescued after falling into the Diyawanna Oya in the Sandun Uyana area of Battaramulla on Aug. 24, the Sri Lanka Navy said.
The incident occurred near Kimbulawala along the Japan-Sri Lanka Friendship Road.
A lifesaving team attached to the Navy’s Rapid Action Boat Squadron, which was deployed for security operations in the Diyawanna Oya area, spotted the woman struggling in the water and immediately launched a rescue operation.
The team safely brought the woman ashore and handed her over for medical attention.
She was identified as a resident of Nugegoda and was subsequently taken to the Colombo National Hospital for further treatment. (Newswire)
