SJB MP Chaminda Wijesiri, who was serving an 18-month prison sentence after being convicted of threatening to kill and assaulting two individuals, has been released on bail pending his appeal.
Wijesiri had been sentenced to 18 months in prison following his conviction in the case.
He subsequently filed an appeal challenging the conviction and sentence, following which the court ordered his release on bail.
As part of the bail conditions, Wijesiri has also been barred from travelling overseas without prior permission from the court. (Newswire)
