
Police have uncovered fresh links to the fatal shooting of a woman in the Middeniya police division earlier this month, arresting two suspects believed to have assisted in the crime.
A 21‑year‑old resident of Middeniya, initially taken into custody on August 19 with ICE narcotics, was detained under a court order for questioning. Investigations revealed his involvement in aiding the murder that occurred on August 12.
He was produced before the Walasmulla Magistrate’s Court on August 23 and remanded until September 2.
On the same day, officers from the Tangalle Division Crime Investigation Unit arrested another suspect, a 24‑year‑old resident of Middeniya, who was also linked to the killing. He was handed over to the Middeniya Police for further action.
