The country’s health system received a boost yesterday when the Colombo 75 Medics Association officially donated six Intensive Care Unit (ICU) monitors valued at Rs. 1.7 million to the Ministry of Health.

The donation was made using funds the association had set aside to strengthen medical services for communities affected during the Ditwa emergency.

Association President Professor Harendra de Silva handed over the equipment to Health Minister Nalinda Jayatissa at the Ministry premises.

Formed by around 120 doctors from the 1975 batch of the University of Colombo’s Faculty of Medicine, the Colombo 75 Medics has carried out numerous public welfare initiatives over the years.

The Minister praised both the donation and the association’s ongoing social service work. (Newswire)
