Wildlife officials rescued 46 star tortoises and one flapshell turtle from a well that had dried up due to severe drought conditions in the Kantale area on Wednesday (26).
The rescue was carried out after the Kantale Wildlife Office received information about the turtles trapped in the dried-up well within the Kantale range.
The 47 turtles were safely removed from the well and released into the Kantale Reservoir, according to the Department of Wildlife Conservation. (Newswire)
