The Department of Meteorology has issued an amber-level warm weather advisory for the Eastern province and the districts of Polonnaruwa, Jaffna, Kilinochchi, Mullaitivu, Vavuniya and Monaragala.
The advisory, issued at 4 p.m. on Thursday (27), will be valid for Friday (28).
The department said the heat index, or the temperature felt by the human body, could reach the “caution” level in some areas during the daytime.
The department advised the public to take precautions against the effects of the heat, particularly during daytime hours. (Newswire)
