A husband-and-wife couple who operate a beauty salon in Matara have been arrested after allegedly being found in possession of a large quantity of narcotics valued at around Rs. 70 million.
According to Police, the suspects were arrested during an operation carried out by officers of the Matara Divisional Crimes Investigation Bureau.
Police said crystal methamphetamine, commonly known as ICE, and heroin were recovered from the suspects’ possession.
The seized narcotics are estimated to have a street value of approximately Rs. 70 million.
Further investigations are underway to determine the source of the drugs and whether the suspects have links to a wider drug trafficking network. (Newswire)
