Police have arrested a youth over an alleged attack on a pony in Nuwara Eliya after a video of the incident was circulated on social media.
The arrest was made following a complaint lodged with the Nuwara Eliya Police Station and an immediate investigation into the incident.
Police said the suspect was arrested under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Ordinance No. 13 of 1907 and Sections 411 and 412 of the Penal Code.
The suspect is scheduled to be produced before the Nuwara Eliya Magistrate’s Court on Friday (28). (Newswire)
