Sun Directly Over Several Parts of Sri Lanka Around Noon

The sun will be directly overhead in several parts of Sri Lanka on Sunday as its apparent southward movement brings it over the country’s latitudes, according to the Department of Meteorology.

The sun is expected to be directly overhead Mannar, Periyamadu, Puliyankulam, Welioya and Pulmoddai at around 12:11 p.m. on August 30.

The phenomenon will continue over different latitudes of Sri Lanka until September 7, having begun on August 28.

During this period, locations corresponding to the sun’s changing latitude will experience the sun almost directly overhead around local noon.
