Iran’s army says it attacked US military assets at the Al Minhad airbase in the UAE.
In a statement reported by Iranian news agencies, the army’s public relations department said dozens of drones were launched at the base starting “early in the morning”.
The army said the attack targeted locations where US forces and helicopters were stationed at the base.
The attack, it said, was revenge for members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and civilians who were killed in a US strike on Iran’s Larak Island, the statement said.
Iran has further said that it will respond decisively to any further military aggression, and that the US and parties supporting its actions bore full responsibility for any escalation.
In a statement, Iran’s Foreign Ministry said that the country’s armed forces struck US military bases in Jordan in response to a US attack on Larak Island.
The ministry said the US bases in Jordan had been used to launch and support the attack on Larak that killed and wounded members of Iran’s armed forces and civilians. (Al Jazeera)
