Three retired Sri Lankan Army officers have completed a challenging Colombo–Chennai–Colombo cycling journey covering approximately 1,400 kilometres as part of an initiative promoting friendship between Sri Lanka and India.
Major General Sumith Balasooriya, Major General Sumith Premalal and Colonel Pradeep Perera also joined around 30 Indian cyclists for the 20-km “Bond and Ride – India & Sri Lanka” friendship cycling event in Chennai.
The ride began at Besant Nagar Beach and travelled through Santhome, Marina Beach and Anna Salai, with participants carrying the Sri Lankan and Indian flags.
The event, organised by Team Bison following an initiative proposed by Sri Lanka’s Deputy High Commissioner in Chennai, also promoted the messages “Cycle for Health” and “Say No to Drugs.” (Newswire)
