The Supreme Court has concluded deliberations on petitions filed in relation to the proposed 22nd Amendment to the Constitution.
The court announced that its determination on the constitutionality of the bill will be confidentially communicated to the Speaker of Parliament.
Many petitions had been filed before the Supreme Court challenging provisions of the proposed constitutional amendment.
Following consideration of submissions presented in relation to the bill, the Supreme Court concluded its deliberations.
Under the constitutional process, the Supreme Court’s determination on a bill challenged before the court is communicated to the Speaker. The Speaker subsequently announces the determination to Parliament. (Newswire)
