
The Welfare Benefits Board (WBB) says Rs. 3.48 billion will be credited to beneficiaries aged over 70 under the Aswesuma Welfare Benefits Programme for August 2026.
According to the WBB, Rs. 3.091 billion will be paid to 618,352 beneficiaries aged over 70 under the first phase of the programme.
A further Rs. 391.3 million will be paid to 78,260 beneficiaries under the second phase.
In total, 696,612 elderly beneficiaries will receive allowances amounting to Rs. 3.483 billion.
The funds are scheduled to be credited to the relevant beneficiaries’ Aswesuma bank accounts on September 3, 2026, and will be available for withdrawal from that date, the WBB said. (Newswire)
