Braille-based service for 119 Police emergency hotline to launch tomorrow

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Priyantha Weerasooriya announced that a Braille-based service will be introduced for the 119 Police Emergency Hotline to assist people who are deaf, nonspeaking or blind.

Speaking to reporters, Weerasooriya said the service will be launched tomorrow (04) under the patronage of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake in line with the 160th anniversary celebrations of Sri Lanka Police.

He said it would be the first such service introduced in Sri Lanka. (Newswire)
