The Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Agency has launched a programme offering new overseas employment opportunities in several countries, including Japan, South Korea, Israel and countries in the Middle East.
Agency Chairman Lal Hettiarachchi said recruitment has already begun for jobs in construction, skilled and technical fields, health care, information technology, engineering, transport, agriculture, garment manufacturing and other sectors.
Speaking at a media briefing at the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment, Hettiarachchi said the opportunities are available to skilled, semi-skilled and professional workers, with applications being accepted at relatively low costs.
He said school leavers will also be eligible to apply for truck driver positions in Japan, provided they have the required Japanese language proficiency.
Job seekers can obtain further information and apply through the agency’s website, www.slfea.lk.
Hettiarachchi said the programme aims to strengthen Sri Lanka’s presence in international labour markets and increase opportunities for skilled Sri Lankan workers to secure overseas employment.
The agency has also established an air ticket sales centre, allowing workers travelling overseas for employment to purchase air tickets at prices lower than prevailing market rates, he said. (Newswire)
