Sri Lanka’s Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage continued his impressive run in the men’s javelin by winning the Diamond League Final on Saturday night with a best throw of 89.04 metres.
Pathirage finished ahead of Poland’s Dawid Wegner, who recorded a personal best of 87.47m, while Trinidad and Tobago’s Keshorn Walcott took third place with a season-best 83.99m.
Grenada’s Anderson Peters finished fourth with 83.70m, followed by Kenya’s Julius Yego with 76.79m. Belgium’s Timothy Herman and the United States’ Curtis Thompson completed the field.
The victory adds another major title to Pathirage’s strong 2026 season. He also holds the world-leading mark of 92.62m, recorded in Rome on June 4.
The Sri Lankan entered the Diamond League Final as the world No. 1 in men’s javelin and once again delivered against a strong international field.
Pathirage’s 89.04m effort was enough to secure the Diamond League Final title by a margin of 1.57 metres over Wegner. (Newswire)
