
The Sri Lanka Navy arrested three people and seized 673 illegally harvested sea cucumbers during an operation off Kudarappu in Jaffna on Sept. 5.
Naval personnel from the Veththalakerni deployment under the Northern Naval Command intercepted a suspicious boat in the Kudarappu coastal area and conducted an inspection.
The Navy said the three people on board were transferring 673 sea cucumbers allegedly harvested through illegal night diving.
The suspects, aged between 51 and 56, are residents of Mannar.
The suspects, sea cucumbers, boat and fishing equipment were handed over to the Jaffna Fisheries Inspector for further legal action. (Newswire)
