The United National Party (UNP) has extended its best wishes for the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna’s (SLPP) upcoming rally in Anuradhapura.
In a letter addressed to SLPP General Secretary Sagara Kariyawasam, UNP Chairman Vajira Abeywardena said the rally was being organised under the leadership of SLPP National Organiser and MP Namal Rajapaksa.
Abeywardena claimed that Namal Rajapaksa’s recent arrest was intended to disrupt the Anuradhapura rally.
He said that despite the development, the UNP extends its best wishes for the SLPP rally, which is to be held under the patronage of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa. (Newswire)
