Dr. Paikiasothy Saravanamuttu, Executive Director of the Centre for Policy Alternatives (CPA), has received the inaugural Advocata Freedom Award in recognition of his work promoting good governance, transparency and accountability in Sri Lanka.
The award was presented on Thursday (10), recognising Saravanamuttu’s longstanding involvement in areas including elections, anti-corruption, human rights and peacebuilding.
Saravanamuttu founded the Centre for Policy Alternatives and co-founded the Centre for Monitoring Election Violence (CMEV). He also helped establish Transparency International Sri Lanka.
He has also convened the Platform for Freedom and served on Sri Lanka’s Task Force on Reconciliation.
His work has extended beyond Sri Lanka, including serving as a Commonwealth Election Observer in Malawi and Guyana.
The inaugural Advocata Freedom Award recognises Saravanamuttu’s contribution to strengthening democratic governance, transparency and accountability in Sri Lanka.(Newswire)
