A special discussion to brief representatives of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on the “Paperless Customs Declaration System”, scheduled to be implemented by Sri Lanka Customs from 1 October, was held this afternoon (11) at the Presidential Secretariat under the patronage of Secretary to the President Dr.Nandika Sanath Kumanayake.
Officials of the Sri Lanka Customs Department and the Revenue Administration Reform and
Modernisation Bureau provided a comprehensive briefing to the IMF representatives on the Paperless Customs Declaration System to be implemented by Sri Lanka Customs, the awareness programmes to be conducted in this regard and the technical readiness of Sri Lanka Customs.
The contribution made by Sri Lanka Customs and the Revenue Administration Reform and Modernisation Bureau of the Presidential Secretariat towards this process was appreciated by the IMF representatives. They also expressed their willingness to provide the necessary support to ensure the successful implementation of the programme.
Senior Additional Secretary of the Revenue Administration Reform and Modernisation Bureau of the Presidential Secretariat Seevali Arukgoda, Director General of Sri Lanka Customs Wimal Liyanagama and a number of senior officials from the Revenue Administration Reform and Modernisation Bureau and Sri Lanka Customs also participated in the discussion.
Representing the International Monetary Fund, Ms.Dinar Prihardini and Mr.Klakow Akepannidtaworn were also present. (PMD)
