Police opened fire on a van after its driver allegedly failed to comply with an order to stop in the Gampaha area, police said.
The incident occurred on Malwatte Road in Udugampola, in the Asgiriya area of Gampaha.
The driver was injured in the shooting and was subsequently arrested and admitted to hospital for treatment, according to police.
