Sri Lankan legend Chaminda Vaas set for big IPL return

Former Sri Lanka fast bowler Chaminda Vaas is set to join Delhi Capitals as its fast bowling coach ahead of the 2027 Indian Premier League (IPL) season, Indian publication Sportstar reported.

According to the report, Delhi Capitals is yet to officially announce the appointment, but Vaas has already joined the franchise’s preparatory camp and trials in New Delhi.

Vaas, 51, represented Sri Lanka in 111 Tests and 322 ODIs, taking 355 and 400 wickets, respectively. He was also a member of Sri Lanka’s 1996 World Cup-winning team and has held several coaching roles since retiring from international cricket.

Sportstar also reported that former India spinner Amit Mishra has joined the setup as spin-bowling coach.

The franchise is expected to undergo a wider coaching overhaul ahead of IPL 2027, with former India captain Sourav Ganguly reportedly taking over as head coach and Yuvraj Singh joining as assistant coach.

Delhi Capitals has yet to officially confirm the appointments. (Newswire)
