Sri Lanka Customs has surpassed the Rs. 2 trillion mark in revenue collection for 2026, reaching the milestone on September 15.
Customs spokesman Chandana Punchihewa confirmed that the department had collected Rs. 2 trillion in revenue between January 1 and September 15, achieving more than 90% of its annual revenue target of Rs. 2.207 trillion.
The milestone comes less than nine months into the year, leaving Customs approximately Rs. 207 billion short of its full-year target.
According to official Customs data, the department collected Rs. 1.85 trillion by the end of August, exceeding its revenue target for the first eight months of the year.
Customs recorded its highest-ever annual revenue of Rs. 2.56 trillion in 2025, surpassing its revised target. (Newswire)
