Heavy Rain expected in 4 districts as showers continue across Sri Lanka

Showers are expected in several parts of Sri Lanka on Thursday, September 17, with fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 50 mm forecast in parts of Galle, Matara, Kalutara and Ratnapura districts, according to the Department of Meteorology.

Showers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Southern provinces.

Several spells of showers are also expected in the North Western province and the Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts.

Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers are forecast at several locations in the Uva and Eastern provinces, as well as the Mullaitivu and Polonnaruwa districts, after 1 p.m.

The Department of Meteorology has urged the public to take precautions against temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers. (Newswire)
