Nestomalt brings that spirit to Cathryn Smart’s attempt to become the fastest female to cross Sri Lanka on foot, inspiring her to challenge challenges, push beyond limits and never give up.
Starting in Kilinochchi and finishing in Matara, Cathryn aims to complete the continuous 500+ km journey in under 110 hours. Covering more than 100 km a day, she will navigate Sri Lanka’s tropical heat, varied terrain and the physical demands of a journey that allows minimal sleep.
Cathryn’s story is one of resilience. Not a professional athlete, she was advised by doctors against running after foot reconstruction surgery. Yet, she chose to pursue this challenge, driven by her belief that ordinary people can achieve extraordinary things when they refuse to give up. Inspired by the warmth of Sri Lanka’s people, she created The Unbroken Island to bring this belief to life.

Beyond the record, The Unbroken Island carries a greater purpose: raising funds for Their Future Today, an organisation working to reform childcare in Sri Lanka by helping keep children out of institutions and supporting their reunification with their families.
