The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has arrested an Assistant Controller of the Department of Immigration and Emigration, accused of assisting in the preparation of an illegal foreign travel document for an organized criminal.
According to police, officers of the CID’s Special Investigation Division carried out the arrest yesterday (17) morning at the Immigration and Emigration Department premises.
The suspect has been identified as a 42‑year‑old resident of Gampaha.
The CID’s Special Investigation Division is conducting further investigations into the incident. (Newswire)
