From Bangkok With Drugs: Three Thai Women Arrested at BIA

Three Thai women have been arrested at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake in two separate operations involving more than 7 kg of suspected narcotics.

According to police, officers attached to the Police Narcotics Bureau’s airport unit arrested a 38-year-old Thai woman who arrived from Bangkok in the early hours of September 20.

She was allegedly found in possession of 3 kg and 220 g of kush and 1 kg and 852 g of hashish.

In a separate operation at the airport’s arrival terminal, officers arrested two other Thai women, aged 31 and 36, who had arrived on a flight from Bangkok.

Police said one woman was allegedly carrying 1 kg and 994 g of kush and 620 g of hashish, while the other was arrested on suspicion of aiding and abetting the offence.

The two operations resulted in the seizure of a total of 7 kg and 686 g of suspected narcotics.

The Police Narcotics Bureau is conducting further investigations. (Newswire)
