The Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government has launched the “GovHR” digital system to streamline human resource management across state institutions.
The system, officially launched on September 24 at the Sri Lanka Institute of Development Administration (SLIDA), is designed to centralise employee information and manage key processes including recruitment, promotions, transfers, training, grievances, performance evaluations and retirement.
The system is expected to reduce delays and inefficiencies associated with paper-based records while improving transparency, efficiency and accountability in the public service.
Speaking at the launch, Minister of Public Administration Prof. Chandana Abayarathna said the system would help address longstanding difficulties associated with maintaining physical files, including records required for recruitment and retirement.
He said Sri Lanka currently has nearly 1.2 million public servants, with provisions made to recruit more than 120,000 additional public servants this year.
