Six people who participated in a protest in Colombo organised by the Frontline Socialist Party (FSP) and the Jana Aragala Viyaparaya have been arrested, Police said.
According to the Police Media Spokesperson, the six were arrested over allegations of unlawful assembly and using loudspeakers without a permit.
The protest march began near Campbell Park in Borella and proceeded through Colombo towards the Fort Railway Station.
The demonstration was organised against the government’s tax policies and the rising cost of living.
Police had earlier taken measures to manage traffic in areas affected by the protest procession.
Further investigations are underway. (Newswire)
