
Sri Lanka’s world No. 1 javelin thrower Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage has named German Olympic champion Thomas Röhler as his role model in the sport.
In a social media post, Pathirage said simply: “Thomas Röhler is my role model in javelin throw.”
Pathirage recently won the men’s javelin gold medal at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, recording a throw of 88.33 metres.
Röhler, one of Germany’s leading javelin throwers, won Olympic gold at the 2016 Rio Games and has a personal best of 93.90 metres. (Newswire)
